Disappearing Bucks - 6/25/09
Have you ever been on the trail of a monster buck, when all of a sudden it just vanishes? I think we have all been in that situation a time or two, and boy is it frustrating. Today we took a trip out to the ranch not only to check in on things, but to also attempt to locate a tranquilized buck. Upon arrival to the last known location of the buck, the ranch was quick to remind us just how dense Ohio brush and woods can be. We found ourselves in the thick brush that surrounded one of the many ravines on the ranch, and no buck in sight. Just a bit earlier the buck was seen walking through the area after being hit with the tranquilizer, so theoretically it should be in the general area, right?
Amazingly enough we found ourselves empty handed. After over 2 hours of searching the dense woods, ravines, and brush we came up empty handed. The buck just disappeared and has yet to be located. But the trip wasn’t a waste, that’s for sure. The beauty of the ranch is always refreshing and an escape from the fast pasted life most of us live. As an added bonus, we got to see a few of our growing bucks making use of the woods to stay cool on this hot Ohio summer day. Not only are they a pleasant sight, but boy are they getting big! This season is going to see a few monsters, that’s for sure. As we continued on our way, we made use of the nice shade of the woods to cool ourselves down a bit before winding down for the day.
	If these bucks stay as elusive as they are now, we might just have to bring in a helicopter to give us a hand! Just wait till the season begins hunters, I’m sure we haven’t seen anything yet. _______________________ Justin World Class Whitetails of Ohio
